Landmates are Appleseeds version of mechs. Landmates are Powered Armor suits which a pilot "wears" rather than using

conventional piloting.

[edit] Description

Landmates have a humanoid shape, with two "master" arms, two "slave" arms and two legs. The pilots arms fit inside the "master" arms and control the "slave"arms using negative feedback. In other words, whatever the "master" arms do, the "slave" arms mimic. This function can be turned off however. The landmates differ from most mech disigns because of their small size and ability to hold additional weapons with the "master" arms. The cockpit has a panoramic holographic screen inside so the pilot can see the entire surrounding while still being fully covered. This also saves on space.

There are several different types of landmates, ranging from police and construction types to military types. Special versions of the Guges types are capable of flight due to a "negative gravity" pack, which attaches to the machines back. While appearing bulky and cumbersome, these machines are capable of moving rather gracefully when a skilled pilot is inside.
